An exquisite pair of early 18th century Japanese Imari trumpet vases. Each central panel decorated with a beautifully depicted kara shi-shi lions and framed by borders of blue scrolling flowers on a dark blue and gold background. Condition: very good, one is perfect, the other has a barely visible hairline crack running for about 15 cm in the less decorated side of the vase.

Depicting Chinese courtiers wearing elaborate robes in a lush garden with exotic plants. including palm trees bearing coconuts, their trunks covered in ivy. Several comparable example at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Holland. Lamped and mounted on a hand carved and hand gilt wooden base, fitted with antiqued brass plate with UK fittings, brown silk flex and black UK plug. Can be converted for EU or US use. Large 18th Century Japanese Imari Vase Lamped

A large pair of octagonal shaped Japanese Imari vases dating from circa 1700-1720 featuring an intricate and colorful decorative scheme: Five shaped panels containing birds, trees and bridges on a flowers background. Condition: One vase is perfect, one has a small chip at the neck measuring circa 4 cm and professionally restored (see image nr. 4). Lamped with a giltwood base and brass top.

Large Pair of 18th Century Japanese Imari Vases Lamped

A well painted medium sized Japanese Imari vase depicting phoenixes and gru amongst flowers and blossoming branches on a cloud shaped underglaze blue decorated background. The lid with a shi-shi lion on a rockwork. Condition: Two pieces restuck on the rim about 5 cm (clearly visible in the picture) and restoration to the finial. Very vivid and well preserved colors.

Early 18th Century Japanese Imari Lidded Vase

A massive pair of exceptional Japanese Imari vases almost certainly made for a palace. Each is decorated with three beautifully composed landscape panels. Each panel, framed within a cartouche, shows birds of paradise, cherry blossom and other creatures perching on branches and set in idealized landscapes. The borders show an intricate and colorful decorative scheme of large peonies set on scrolling blue foliage. Both vases have lids topped with Bijin (Japanese courtly ladies). These vases date from, circa 1700.
