A matched pair of very large, rare Chinese blue and white porcelain vases dating from the last quarter of the 18th century. Elaborately decorated in Oriental landscapes showing pagodas, gardens and bridges. Both vases have sustained heavy damage on one side which has been restored. Each vase has a very good undamaged side. Perfect for decorating as these vases are in ‘country house condition’.

An impressive and highly decorative early 18th century North Italian console table dating circa 1730-1740 and retaining most of its original gilding and inset with a beautiful “travertino” marble top. A very similar example, of larger proportion, in the Royal Palace of Turin as shown in the second picture. Very good condition, no replacements or losses, original gilding, sturdy structure. Impressive stature very suitable for a hall or living room to accomodate lamps or sculptures.

This large Japanese Imari vase, dating from circa 1700, features an unusual decoration depicting two large quails perching on a tree branch on a blue background with hexagons panels depicting butterflies and stylized flowers. The lid depicting same geometric patterns and surmounted by a trunk shaped finial with a small quail resting on it. Condition: The vase is perfect; the lid has restorations to the border. Rare, unusually decorated vase with elegant mellow colors, very decorative.

Plum Blossom (Prunus) / Meihua : Plum Meihua is one of the most important plants in Chinese art. Their flowers grow on knurled old angular branches, the flowers are fragile and pure, so they can be a symbol of vigour in old age as well as purity. The tree is the first to flower after the long hard winter, symbolically it can represent perseverance as well as renewal.
