Two long hairline cracks of circa 15 cm and 30 cm have been cleaned and consolidated, given the complexity of the decoration these are hardly visible and do not detract from the decorative and historic value of this charger.

A fine pair of early 18th century Japanese porcelain models of a carp leaping the Lungmen Falls, Arita Kilns, circa 1730-1750. Made from a two-piece mould, the tail and fins were made separately and luted to the body. The carp is depicted in a dynamic pose bent at the tail forcing the body upwards, open mouthed with it`s Barbles pushed back to it`s eyes it is clearly struggling.
