An impressively large mid-18th century carved giltwood mirror in the Rococo style. The later shaped divided twin plate surmounted by a pierced acanthus leaf cresting flanked by icicles, the pierced ‘C’@ scroll sides with trailing oak leaves and acorns, above a pierced rocaille, double ‘C’ scroll and acanthus carved apron below. This mirror has excellent detailing and superb crisp carving throughout; the gilt finish has nicely aged to present a superb centrepiece mirror for any room or hallway. Origin/Age: Probably Irish, George III, circa 1760.

A good quality and attractive Japanese Imari vase of small proportion. Finely painted with phoenixes and flowers on a rocky landscape. Ideal size for a bedside table. In the process of being lamped and mounted on a hand carved and hand gilt wooden base, fitted with antiqued brass plate with UK fittings, brown silk flex and black UK plug. Can be converted for EU or US use.

A great pair of well cast and chased French Louis XVI fire dogs with the typical neoclassic elements such as columns, urns and a feathered triumphal helmet each the side. These date from circa 1770. Excellent fire gilding. Very good size and condition, the gilding especially as it is not worn and every element has been finely chased. Originally these fire dogs would have had long iron rods emerging from the reverse side. These have been removed at some stage and now allow for easy placing on the side of all fireplaces.

Pair of Louis XVI 18th Century French Gilt Bronze Fire Dogs

A rare, oversized, possibly unrecorded,pair of Chinese Kangxi Dynasty (1662-1722) Blue and White chargers dating from around 1700 and made for the foreign markets (export) most probably for the Dutch since the shape recalls one of 17th century silver chargers. Large Kangxi mark on the base, beautiful scrolling foliage decoration on the front. Good condition: a chip the size of a thumbnail expertly restored on the side and not visible in both of them.

Rare Pair of Large 18th Century Kangxi Period Chinese Blue and White Chargers

A very rare and unusual Japanese blue glazed Arita vase with gilt chinoiserie decoration dating from circa 1700. The dark blue glaze is very unusual in Japanese porcelain and made most certainly for the European market at the end of the 17th century or early 18th century. The vase has been decorated with exquisite gilded chinoiserie decoration. Certainly the inspiration for this type of porcelain is the Chinese ‘Mazarin’ solid blue glaze but this example is a very Japanese interpretation.

A pair of early 18th century Japanese Imari vases. Decorated in various coloured enamel and gilt on underglaze blue with shaped panels with houses among trees, peonies and foliage. An identical pair sold at: Christies, London, 17th November, 2020 lot nr 519.
