A Regency black painted plaster standing female figure light by Humphrey Hopper depicted in classical dress, holding aloft a candle light with etched floral glass shade, on a circular base. The shade replaced. Signed and Dated on the back of the base “N 18-1809” and “H”. Humphrey Hopper (1765-1844) may have started his career as a mason. He completed his education as a mature man of 36 by enrolling in the Royal Academy Schools in February 1801 to study sculpture. He was a successful student, winning a silver medal in December 1802.
