An unusual and large Kangxi (1662-1722) blue and white porcelain charger. circa 1700. Its shape takes inspirations from Dutch 17th century silver, probably the basin of an ewer. Large mushroom shaped kangxi mark at the bottom. Similar examples and literature: Hermitage Museum, saint Petersburg (Arapova,1977, p.122) : Chinese Ceramics in the Topkapi Saray Museum (de krahl/Ayers, 1986, p 1023).

The Elbogen porcelain factory was founded on the Austrian / Czech border in 1815 by Rudolf K and Eugen K Haidinger. It was named Haideinger Brothers Porcelain Factory in Elbogen, and was also known as Vienna Porcelain and Earthenware Factory. The factory was located in the Czech city of Loket, which was known as Elbogen whilst under Austrian rule. Like Samson of France, the Elbogen workshops produced a number of designs in the eighteenth century manner inspired by Chinese and European models.

A very large Japanese Imari vase of exceptional decorative quality dating from, circa 1700-1720. Each of the three main panels on the body of the vase depicts different varieties of flowers such as peonies, carnations and chrysanthemums. The lid is a European copy of the original made to replace the, presumably, broken, original. We think it was made in the early 19th century and we assume that the vase must have had a prestigious provenance considering the cost of making a lid to match in such quality. The vase stands on an associated 20th century hand-carved and gilt wooden base.

Exceptional Early 18th Century Japanese Imari Vase, circa 1700

This is a really fabulous large Japanese early 18th century Imari vase, richly decorated in fields of black and gold showing opened panels with landscapes and flowering decorations. It is in excellent condition and a very unusual and elegant example of decorated export Imari.

Fabulous Large Japanese Early 18th Century Imari Vase

A superb and rare pair of very finely painted blue and white Dutch Delft stove tiles dating around 1730. Decorated with a pastoral landscape with naked greek goddesses resting within a Daniel Marot (1661-1752) inspired baroque cartouche panel. Retaining their original bricks in the back which makes them rather heavy.
